We carefully pre-fabricate and pre-assemble as much of each structure as
possible without making it impossible to handle and overly expensive to ship. The
exact amount of pre-fabrication possible will vary slightly with size and
design. Here are our guidelines:
-
windows are completely assembled and have all hardware and casing attached.
Some hardware may be removed prior to shipping to prevent damage. Re-assembly
should require minumum effort.
-
Doors are completely assembled and are pre-hung with casing attached, ready
to be placed in their respective openings. Doors will be drilled and fitted
for locksets, locksets will be supplied but not installed to prevent
damage during shipping.
-
Most options come completely assembled and ready for mounting with the
exception of dormers (please see section on roofs below).
-
Walls are framed and siding is attached. Depending on length, type of siding,
and construction, walls over 12' may be broken into sections. Where possible,
wall sections will be broken at a door or window, and the siding above the door
or window will not be attached. Gable walls will be supplied with the roof peak
sections framed seperately for attachment to the gable wall during erection.
-
Floors are supplied pre-cut, as the sheets of flooring must remain unattached to
facilitate the leveling of the floor and most floors are too large to ship. For
ease of assembly, the headers are clearly marked to show to positions of the
joists.
-
Our roof systems are designed to use rafters rather than trusses, so the roof
support structure can not be pre-assembled. It is our experience that the exact
size of the roof panels dependant on the geometry of the floor, the tightness
between the walls joints and other details of assembly that are outside of our
control. In order to make assembly as easy as possible, the roof panels may not
be pre-cut. Instructions are supplied that detail fast and easy custom cutting
and assembly procedures.
Please see our assembly section to see how easy our
kits are to erect.
